Benefits of Certification
If you’re an HR professional and become certified, you show you know the most current principles and core practices of HR management, you become more marketable when you compete for top HR positions, and you raise the professional confidence among your staff and your peers
Benefits of Recertification
Recertification demonstrates your continued dedication to stay up to date with the rapidly changing HR profession and is a means by which certified professionals demonstrate their currency and maintain their professional edge.
To retain the PHR, SPHR or GPHR designations, HRCI requires recertifying every three years either by accumulating 60 educational hours through continuing education, instruction, on-the-job experience, research and publishing, leadership activities, or membership in a national or international professional organization such as the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), or by retaking the examination. For more information about how to recertify, please see the HRCI webpage at www.hrci.org.
The recertification requirements for the SHRM-CP and SRHM-SCP are similar to the requirements for HRCI. Recertification is done through activities which advance your education, your organization and your profession. Need more information?
FCSHRM's certification committee promotes the benefits of professional certification by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and SHRM; plans and conducts study groups as needed; assists and advises members seeking test application, study materials and resources; recognizes individuals who have demonstrated achievement of national standards by passing the exam; and offers recertification credits for many of our regular programs and workshops.
Would you like to volunteer to lead a Study Group? Would you like to join the Certification Committee?
These are great opportunities to give back to your profession. There are multiple ways of helping, some involving very little of your time. If you know of any webcasts/online resources offering recertification credits, please post that information on the FCSHRM LinkedIn page. If you’d like to be a part of this committee, please contact us at [email protected] and include certification in the subject line.
